The sun has a diameter of approximately 1.4 million kilometers and is primarily composed of hydrogen and helium. Its gravity keeps all of our planets in the solar system in orbit. Nuclear fusion emits energy.
Energy is created through nuclear fusion. This process is where hydrogen is converted into helium in the sun's core. The suns core than travels outward through the suns core.
Earth has both landforms and bodies of water. The landforms include mountains, plains, plateaus, canyons, volcanoes, and valleys, while the bodies of water include rivers, lakes, glaciers, and oceans. There are also ocean trenches and mid-ocean ridges.
This is the sun's hottest layer. The nuclear fusion of hydrogen and helium happens at the core, which releases tons of energy.
This is where energy from the core travels through.
Heat travels through this zone. Got material rises while colder materials sink.
This is the lowest layer of the sun's atmosphere. Its temperature ranges from 11,000 degrees Fahrenheit, starting at the bottom, to 7,460 degrees Fahrenheit. The photosphere has bubbling granules of plasma and darker, cooler sunspots that appear when the sun's magnetic field breaks through the surface.
The next layer is the chromosphere. The chromosphere has a reddish glow resulting from super-heated hydrogen being burnt off. The reddish glow can only be seen during a solar eclipse.
The corona is the third layer of the sun's atmosphere. It is most noticeable during a solar eclipse; its temperature can reach 3.5 million degrees Fahrenheit.
Right now, the sun is in its primary sequence. The main sequence, the most extended phase, is when the sun's energy is driven by nuclear fusion. The following sequence is the red giant. This is where the sun expands as the hydrogen fuel in the core exhausts itself. It will last for approximately 1 billion years. A white dwarf is the next phase. The outer layers would shed resulting in a dense core, the white dwarf. Lastly, there is the black dwarf. As the white dwarf continues to cool down and fade, the black dwarf is what is left.
